Vehicle inspection centers will detect particulate filter fraud from now on. Vehicle inspection centers will trace soot filter fraud using practical tests. That was decided yesterday during a consultation between the regions. They are still working on the modalities and financing of these tests. Every year, tens of thousands of diesel cars, whose soot filter has been illegally removed, can pass vehicle inspection. Instead of repairing a broken particle filter, a number of garages remove it, to be replaced by an empty housing. At the moment, however, it is almost impossible to achieve the European emission standards without a particulate filter – the car, without filter a car emits much more soot and particulate matter. Mobility organization VAB called on the government to accelerate the work of a more efficient car inspection.
